A loom is a device used to weave cloth and tapestry. The basic purpose of any loom is to hold the warp threads under tension to facilitate the interweaving of the weft threads. The precise shape of the loom and its mechanics may vary, but the basic function is the same.
The word "loom" is derived from the Old English "geloma" formed from ge-(perfective prefix) and loma, a root of unknown origin; this meant utensil or tool or machine of any kind. In 1404 it was used to mean a machine to enable weaving thread into cloth. By 1838 it had gained the meaning of a machine for interlacing thread.
Weaving is done by intersecting the longitudinal threads, the warp, i.e. "that which is thrown across", with the transverse threads, the weft, i.e. "that which is woven".
The major components of the loom are the warp beam, heddles, harnesses or shafts (as few as two, four is common, sixteen not unheard of), shuttle, reed and takeup roll. In the loom, yarn processing includes shedding, picking, battening and taking-up operations. These are the principal motions.
Annabel (also spelled Annabelle or Anabel) is a female given name, a variant of Amabel probably influenced by Anna., which means "graceful, or favor" and comes from Latin and Greek roots. Annabel also has part of the French word Belle, which means "Beautiful". Belle is sometimes used as a given name in the English language. It can also be a contraction of the Spanish name 'Ana Isabel'.
It can refer to:
It can refer to the following people:
Weaving is a method of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth. Similar methods are knitting, felting, and braiding or plaiting. The longitudinal threads are called the warp and the lateral threads are the weft or filling. (Weft or woof is an old English word meaning "that which is woven".) The method in which these threads are inter woven affects the characteristics of the cloth.
Cloth is usually woven on a loom, a device that holds the warp threads in place while filling threads are woven through them. A fabric band which meets this definition of cloth (warp threads with a weft thread winding between) can also be made using other methods, including tablet weaving, back-strap, or other techniques without looms.
The way the warp and filling threads interlace with each other is called the weave. The majority of woven products are created with one of three basic weaves: plain weave, satin weave, or twill. Woven cloth can be plain (in one colour or a simple pattern), or can be woven in decorative or artistic design.
Common Ground may refer to:
The Art (sometimes stylised as THEART) are an Australian Alternative Rock band based in Sydney. They began performing under the name The Follow in 2004. Tasmanian band leader Azaria Byrne was known as an unsuccessful contestant on the reality television series Popstars.
Early highlights for the band's career have been supporting successful bands such as the Pixies, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth and Thirty Seconds to Mars as late as 2010, however this was marred by the crowd booing and calls to "get off the stage".
As band leader Azaria Byrne enters middle age success has so far eluded him despite media attention resulting from his being cuckolded by the even older fading celebrity Bill Corgan.
The other band members have all been described as "dull" but this could also be a result of the attention seeking behavior of their singer.

For a week in October 2013, the Smithsonian Institution's Arctic Studies Center in Alaska brought together three artists who work with porcupine quills, which were stitched, wrapped, and woven onto Athabascan skin clothing, moccasins and bags. The artists exchanged ideas and techniques and studied museum collections, working together to re-discover historical techniques nearly lost. They also shared their knowledge with museum visitors and staff.

Artist Simon Starling speaks about his artistic process and, specifically, about his large-scale installation, Inverted Retrograde Theme, USA (House for a Songbird), 2002, that traces the paradoxes of modernist architecture in the Caribbean. The installation, recently acquired by PAMM through a gift from Dennis and Debra Scholl, presents the artist’s interpretation of how modern notions failed when confronted with reality via his metaphorical use of caged birds. Starling’s piece references experimental music theory, modernist architecture and social issues in the Caribbean and, with subtle irony, often draws from social experiences and current events to create works that allude to the narratives left behind by modernism. Fantasy dragon drawing paint over. Making your line art more realistic / turning your line art into a painting. This is my first ever over painting / paint over video, so hopefully I didn't screw it up too much! Someone sent me a drawing they had done of a dragon head from a side profile ( because I have other videos about painting dragons from the side view ) and asked me for some tips and advice. I decided I would take this advantage to do a dragon paint over video for Youtube. In this tutorial I try to explain how to make your work look more realistic. In this case, the illustration was quite flat without any real lighting and shadows and form. Also having line art prevented it from being realistic. Although I think the dragon design itself is pretty cool! I try to talk about working ...
